Principal's Welcome

Tēnā koutou e te whānau,

Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Kura o Whangamarino.

Welcome. Whangamarino School is a dynamic, inspiring, dual medium Year 1-8 school set in the heart of Okere Falls, looking over beautiful Lake Rotoiti. Whangamarino offers an educational experience designed to inspire individual achievement, strong personal values and confidence for life.

As a parent or whanau, your choice to send your son or daughter to Whangamarino is a choice that will create and shape their amazing future. Whangamarino gives your child the opportunity to learn in either English or Maori (total immersion) in classes that have low numbers. We welcome all students passionate about learning Te Reo Maori regardless of their Te Reo Maori ability. We embrace our unique Ngati Pikiao identity which stems from years of being part of the local communities of Mourea, Otaramarae and Okere Falls. The staff are dedicated, committed and professional, work hard and have a passion for teaching. We have an ‘open door’ policy and we encourage you to communicate with us at any time.

This year we are fortunate to be part of the government's Free Healthy Lunch Programme. This means that every child in our kura will receive a free healthy lunch every day. A big mihi to the government for allowing our tamariki to take part in this exciting new venture.

Our fundraising committee Te Roopu Manaaki is made up of amazing parents who work tirelessly throughout the year for our tamariki. This year they are providing all children with FREE STATIONERY, thank you Te Roopu Manaaki.

If you want to know a little bit more about us, please visit us to find out exactly what a Whangamarino education can offer your son or daughter.
